It’s THAT time of year…time for everything that could possibly be made in a mason jar! This is a super simple DIY that can be used as a teacher gift, neighbor gift or just a quick dessert. Plus, you can cater it to your own personal allergies and preferences.
I used a Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust and rolled it out. You can make your own pie crust or use the Pillsbury Gluten Free Pie Crusts and simply roll out and slice into small strips using a pizza cutter.
Next, place your strips into the jar surrounding the edges and leave some hanging over. After that, add your pie filling. I called this cherry pie in a jar but then realized that is obviously apple pie in the picture. That just goes to show that you can fill your jars with whatever pie filling you choose. Typically, I only use cherry pie because that is my favorite but I changed it up a bit this year.
Next, simply fold over your remaining pie strips that were hanging over the jar. For cherry pie, I always sprinkle sugar on top. For the apple pie, I sprinkle cinnamon. Then, you’re going to start baking right in the jar! This is SO easy and it’s my favorite gift to give for Christmas.
