It’s back to school time which means the dreaded lunch making is back especially for those of us packing lunches for kids with food allergies. A staple in our lunches are Del Monte Fruit Cups. My son loves Del Monte Diced Pears!
Since it is Back to School season, I’ve been loading up on snack foods like Capri Suns & Lunchables. My son does have food allergies but he wants to have a “Lunchable” like everyone else. So, I simply purchase the brand and substitute the cheese and crackers with brands that my son can have. Then, I place it in his lunchbox and he has his very own Lunchable.
One of the best things about Del Monte are the awesome new additions like these Diced Peaches with Cinnamon & Brown Sugar. This takes ordinary fruit up a notch and helps your kiddos enjoy the fruit that much more.
Of course, you could always go this route…
Yep, that’s right, sprinkles & Del Monte Fruit Cups. Adding a little something to the fruit helps my son to think of it more like a treat and he digs right in. If you want to go a step further, you could do something like this…
Yes, my friends, that is a Del Monte Fruit Cup with sprinkles and dairy-free whip cream. Now that is what I call “taking it up a notch.” Of course, I’ve now managed to turn it into a dessert more than anything but it’s seriously delicious. My youngest kept calling it a cupcake and asked for more!
For the school lunch, I have to skip the whip cream but I do add a bag of sprinkles!
Be sure to check out the Del Monte Fruit Cups for yourself and don’t be afraid to add a little pizazz! You can also like Del Monte on Facebook and follow Del Monte on Twitter.
